The Community Oncology Conference is unique among educational programs offered to the oncology community. It provides a forum for community-based oncologists and allied professionals to address the complex clinical, technological, legislative, and business-related issues affecting their practices today. In this shifting medical landscape, sharing data and experience and strong advocacy are ever more urgent if we are to continue providing high-quality, affordable, and accessible cancer care. Program OverviewThis CME activity is based on audio and slides of presentations as delivered by the faculty at the Second Annual Community Oncology Conference, held at the Hyatt Regency in Washington, DC, February 89, 2007. Both medically and financially, cancer care has become increasingly complex. While there has been an explosion of effective new drugs, they come at a high cost. With a growing pool of patients, more complicated regimens, and cutbacks in Medicare reimbursement, practitioners and administrators are finding it ever more challenging to continue offering quality care while still operating profitably. Because community practices are committed to facing and overcoming these hurdles, there is a clear need for a focused forum that offers practical, topical, and solution-driven information.
